REFUND POLICY
Effective Date: August 31, 2026
Last Updated: August 31, 2026
The Northeast Kansas City Historical Society (“NEKCHS”) is a nonprofit organization. Funds received through memberships, donations, events, and other activities support our mission, educational programs, historical preservation activities, and organizational operations.
This Refund Policy explains how refund requests are handled.
1. Membership Dues
Membership dues are generally non-refundable once processed.
Because membership payments support NEKCHS's nonprofit activities and provide access to applicable membership benefits, refunds will normally not be issued simply because a member decides not to use their membership.
However, NEKCHS may review refund or correction requests involving:
-
Duplicate payments.
-
An incorrect amount charged.
-
A payment submitted in error.
-
A technical processing error.
-
Other exceptional circumstances determined by NEKCHS.
Please contact us promptly if you believe a membership transaction was processed incorrectly.
2. Donations
Charitable donations to NEKCHS are generally final and non-refundable.
If a donation was made accidentally, was duplicated, or was processed for an incorrect amount, please contact us as soon as possible.
NEKCHS will review such requests individually and may issue a refund when appropriate and legally permissible.
3. Event and Home Tour Tickets
Unless otherwise stated on the applicable event registration page, event and home-tour ticket purchases are generally final.
Refunds will normally not be provided for:
-
Failure to attend an event.
-
Changes in personal plans.
-
Late arrival.
-
Weather conditions when the event still takes place.
-
Failure to use all or part of an event experience.
Different refund terms may be announced for a particular event and, where provided, those event-specific terms will control.
4. Event Cancellation
If NEKCHS cancels a paid event and does not provide a replacement or rescheduled event, NEKCHS may provide a refund of the applicable ticket amount.
Third-party processing, service, or transaction fees may be excluded from a refund when those fees are retained by the applicable third-party provider.
5. Postponed or Rescheduled Events
If an event is postponed or rescheduled, previously purchased tickets will generally remain valid for the new date.
NEKCHS will communicate any additional refund or exchange options when the rescheduling announcement is made.
6. Merchandise
If NEKCHS offers merchandise for sale, any return or refund conditions displayed with the applicable merchandise or at the time of purchase will apply.
For damaged, defective, or incorrect items, please contact NEKCHS promptly with details of the issue.
7. Third-Party Platforms
Some payments or event registrations may be completed through third-party platforms.
Refunds involving a third-party platform may also be subject to that provider's policies, processing procedures, and transaction fees.
NEKCHS cannot guarantee the return of fees retained directly by a third-party service provider.
8. Processing Refunds
Approved refunds will generally be returned using the original payment method whenever reasonably possible.
The amount of time required for a refund to appear in your account may depend on your bank, card issuer, payment provider, or other financial institution.
9. Charge Questions
If you do not recognize a charge associated with NEKCHS or believe a transaction is incorrect, please contact us before initiating a payment dispute when possible. We will make reasonable efforts to review the transaction and assist you.
