Accessibility Statement

Last Updated: August 31, 2026

The Northeast Kansas City Historical Society (“NEKCHS,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to making our website, programs, events, and historical resources as accessible as reasonably possible to all members of our community, including individuals with disabilities.

Our Commitment

We are continually working to improve the usability and accessibility of www.nekchs.org and strive toward recognized accessibility standards, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA where reasonably achievable.

Our accessibility efforts may include:

  • Providing readable and clearly structured website content.

  • Using descriptive text for meaningful images where possible.

  • Supporting keyboard navigation where supported by our website platform.

  • Maintaining adequate text size and visual contrast.

  • Providing clear headings, labels, links, and navigation.

  • Reviewing new website content with accessibility in mind.

  • Working to make forms and online information easier to use with assistive technologies.

Third-Party Content

Our website may contain links to or integrations with third-party websites and services, including event registration, payment, social media, mapping, video, or online-form providers.

While we encourage third-party providers to offer accessible services, NEKCHS does not control the accessibility features of websites or services operated by third parties.

Events and Accommodations

NEKCHS organizes and promotes activities such as historical programs, meetings, educational activities, and home tours. Some events may take place in historic buildings or privately owned properties where physical accessibility may be limited because of architectural conditions.

If you require an accommodation to participate in a NEKCHS event, please contact us as early as reasonably possible. We will make reasonable efforts to provide information about accessibility and available accommodations.
